About The Position

Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc. is seeking a Fire and Life Safety Director to join their team. This role is responsible for monitoring and operating fire command panels, responding to alarms and system troubles, and communicating critical information to relevant parties. The position requires maintaining a valid F-89 and First Aid/CPR certifications, and ensuring compliance with the Fire Safety and Evacuation Plan. The Director will also be responsible for conducting site inspections and responding to medical assistance calls.

Requirements

  • Maintain a valid F-89 to perform the duties of an FLSD.
  • Maintain First Aid / CPR certifications.
  • Upon the start of assigned shift must sign-in fire command log, include their shift assignment.
  • Must be assigned to monitor and operate the HUB & VSC fire command panels at all times.
  • Report Suspicious, unusual or unsafe behavior observed throughout the site should be immediately reported to OCC Supervisor via radio or phone and request response of PAPD and/or WTC Security.
  • FLSD staff must communicate with relieving FLSD Team members and exchange all relevant information including but not limited to: Fire detection and/or suppression system trouble, supervisory, alarms signals. Status of the fire alarm monitoring with central station, on-line / offline. Systems or devices in bypass, On-going construction activity. Fire alarm system testing within PA space or sitewide. Any other unusual occurrences or incidents that have occurred during their shift.
  • If a trouble or supervisory signal is received from the fire panel, document in the fire command log and investigate cause. The investigation should include a notification to shift supervisor and requesting FLSD Team member to respond to the location and report findings.
  • Review fire command log entries, alarm log and approved sitewide property management (SWMP) that impact scheduled shift.
  • Inquire with previous FLSD if there are any entries that require additional information or explanation.
  • Contact shift supervisor to clarify any outstanding issues.
  • Perform – Daily lamp test at assigned fire command.
  • Document any deficiencies or unusual conditions, escalate to supervisor as necessary.
  • Monitor fire alarm panel for trouble, supervisory, alarm signals, warden phone activations as required.
  • Dispatch FLSD Team member(s) / Brigade to immediately investigate all signals that report to the fire panel.
  • Monitor elevator panel, immediately respond to elevator entrapments
  • FLSD assigned to communicate with arriving First Responders provide all known and relevant information of the condition.
  • If safety permits comply with the directions of the emergency responder personnel and/or other lawful authority.
  • FLSD Team members must participate in all mandatory scheduled training to maintain readiness.
  • Complete all site inspections assigned.
  • Contact FLSD Supervisor without delay if there are any questions regarding assigned inspections.
  • Be familiar with all the provisions of the Fire Safety and Evacuation Plan including Building Information Card(s).
  • Respond to calls for medical assistance received through the OCC.
  • Respond to scene with all assigned First Aid equipment including AED and Blood Kit.
  • If safety permits, provide immediate First Aid attention that have received training and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Document and investigate the cause of any trouble or supervisory signals received from the fire panel, notifying the shift supervisor and requesting assistance.
  • Review fire command log entries, alarm log, and approved sitewide property management (SWMP) that impact the scheduled shift.
  • Perform daily lamp tests at the assigned fire command and document/escalate any deficiencies or unusual conditions.
  • Monitor the fire alarm panel for trouble, supervisory, alarm signals, and warden phone activations.
  • Dispatch FLSD Team member(s)/Brigade to immediately investigate all signals reporting to the fire panel.
  • Monitor the elevator panel and respond to elevator entrapments.
  • Communicate with arriving First Responders, providing all known and relevant information of the condition.
  • Participate in all mandatory scheduled training to maintain readiness.
  • Complete all assigned site inspections.
  • Respond to calls for medical assistance received through the OCC.
  • Respond to medical calls with all assigned First Aid equipment, including AED and Blood Kit.
  • Provide immediate First Aid attention if safety permits and if trained and certified.
