About The Position

This role focuses on designing and quoting innovative and reliable technology solutions, specifically in Security, VMS, and Access Control systems, by assessing customer needs and requirements. The engineer will act as a technical expert in sales situations, conduct site assessments, present solutions, design systems, provide accurate quotes, and produce detailed project documentation for the operations team. The position also requires maintaining industry knowledge and certifications, and potentially performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree from an accredited college, university, or technical institution with coursework in communications, business, or Technology, or substitute 2 years pertinent experience for each year of education.
  • Four years' working experience with fire alarm systems
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Strong knowledge of communications systems, including audio, video, security, fire alarm, wireless, and data networks.
  • PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • The employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
  • Some light lifting of objects is required.
  • Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Above average intellectual ability and excellent judgment are needed to deal effectively with a wide range of problem solving and trouble shooting activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong working knowledge of Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with customers, recommend solutions, and demonstrate products to identify key customer needs and produce a solution that best meets those needs.
  • Conduct site assessments to document current device locations, assess system status, make recommendations that align current technology with the client's policies and procedures, and provide a technology roadmap.
  • Effectively and professionally demonstrate products and communicate solutions to large groups of customers in a variety of settings.
  • Design systems that best fit the customers' needs independent of price, and communicate the features, benefits, and business value of the solution.
  • Provide quotes that are accurate, timely, and with appropriate detail to effectively present the solution to the customer.
  • Produce detailed and accurate project documentation that permits the Operations team to successfully implement the project.
  • Maintain knowledge of your industry/technology and achieve and maintain required industry certifications in accordance with CEC policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
