About The Position

LifeSafety Management is seeking a motivated Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Inspector to perform the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire alarm and sprinkler systems across commercial and residential properties. This is a skilled, field-based role for a technician who can work independently, manage a daily route, and serve as a trusted point of contact for customers. Working with limited supervision, the Inspector conducts routine and complex inspections, diagnoses system deficiencies, completes accurate compliance documentation, and helps mentor junior inspectors as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in fire alarm and/or sprinkler inspection, testing, and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and NFPA 25 and Florida-adopted fire code requirements.
  • Proficient with hand tools, test equipment, and electrical/mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and wiring drawings.
  • Comfortable using mobile devices, inspection software, and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Level I certification in Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems and/or water-based systems
  • FASA/BASA license.
  • 3+ years of combined fire alarm and sprinkler ITM experience.
  • Experience producing deficiency reports and working directly with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm and sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 25.
  • Accurately document inspection results, code and system deficiencies, and service activities using company-provided tools, and produce timely, complete inspection and deficiency reports.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and code issues to customers professionally and clearly, and identify opportunities for follow-up service or repair work.
  • Read and interpret fire alarm and sprinkler drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and parts inventory in the company vehicle, and ensure all test equipment is in a constant state of readiness.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including working on ladders, lifts, and occasionally in confined spaces.
  • Provide on-the-job guidance and technical support to junior inspectors and apprentices as needed.
  • Maintain current technical knowledge by staying up to date with code revisions, industry changes, and certification requirements.
