About The Position

This position maintains and repairs fire alarm systems and the pneumatic tube system serving UAMS medical, educational, and research facilities. These systems support the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of patients, students, and employees. The technician also assists with facility-related problems and emergencies on the UAMS Campus. Duties are performed in accordance with UAMS Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the institution’s expectations for dignity and respect, information sharing, participation, and collaboration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years of fire alarm maintenance experience; a technical degree in electronics or a similar field may be accepted in lieu of experience.
• Valid driver’s license with fewer than 12 points on the Motor Vehicle Record.
• NICET Level 1 Certification.
• State of Arkansas Alarm Systems Technician License.
• Intermediate computer program proficiency.
• Thorough understanding of NFPA and experience with various fire alarm manufacturers.

Nice To Haves

• Technical degree in electronics or a similar field.
• More than 10 years of fire alarm maintenance experience.
• NICET Level 2, 3, or 4 Certification.
• Arkansas Journeyman Electrical License.
• Swisslog Certificate of Training for Pneumatic Tube Systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair fire alarm systems on the UAMS Campus.
• Maintain and repair the pneumatic tube system serving UAMS facilities.
• Assist with facility-related problems and emergencies on the UAMS Campus.
