About The Position

Experienced Fire Alarm / Low Voltage Technician to install fire alarm systems in new and existing buildings in all types of construction using conduits, hangers, cabling, alarm devices, and panels. Experienced Fire Alarm / Low Voltage Technicians lay out, assemble, install, and maintain the system and related equipment for various types of fire alarm systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This job requires that you can read, write, and speak English.
  • It is required to have the ability to comprehend instructions, write correspondence, and read lists and reports.
  • Basic math skills are a necessity.
  • The ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions delivered in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in unstandardized situations.
  • Standing: Remains in standing position to perform various functions of the job.
  • Climbing: ascending and descending ladders and the like.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward or forward by bending the leg and spine.
  • Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA-10 and/or CPR and First Aid Training must be completed within the first 3 months of employment.
  • This job requires the use of Paycom, Outlook, and BuilderTrend.
  • Basic knowledge of mobile devices for communication.

Responsibilities

  • Install and service alarm panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, and detectors for fire alarm systems.
  • Use a digital multi-meter as a tool for troubleshooting ground faults, shorts, and open circuits on fire alarm systems.
  • Fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining conduit, junction boxes, terminals, and equipment for fire alarm systems.
  • Strip, pull and terminate wire to fire alarm devices using crimps, solder, shrink tubing, tape, wire nuts, and terminal blocks.
  • Attach conduits to walls, structures, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools, or anchors.
  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems, using fire alarm testing equipment, load testing, visual and audible observation, or other methods.
  • Program single-line circuits, modules, sensors, and input/output devices for fire alarm panels.
  • Measure and mark conduits for cutting and bending.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance is required for the function of this job.
