About The Position

Piper Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Technician to join our team in Clearwater, Florida. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, programming, testing, and servicing commercial fire alarm systems while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial projects alongside a team dedicated to protecting lives and property.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience installing, servicing, or maintaining commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and applicable local fire and building codes.
  • Experience reading construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and system layouts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm systems and identify system deficiencies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and active construction sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work as required.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming fire alarm systems such as Notifier, Silent Knight, Gamewell-FCI, Honeywell, Edwards, Siemens, or Fire-Lite.
  • NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level I, II, or higher).
  • Experience with low-voltage systems including Access Control, CCTV, Burglar Alarm, or Security Systems.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience working in commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, or multi-site environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, service, and inspect commercial fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Perform device installation, wiring, terminations, and system testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Program, configure, and commission fire alarm control panels and associated devices.
  • Conduct system inspections and functional testing to ensure proper operation and code compliance.
  • Diagnose and repair system deficiencies and document all work performed.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and customers to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
  • Provide recommendations regarding system performance, upgrades, and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, installation documentation, and inspection records.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and maintain a clean and professional work environment, including company vehicles and job sites.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through professional communication and technical support.
  • Work independently and as part of a team while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
