About The Position

This entry-level trainee position involves learning the mechanics of fire alarm system installation. Under direct supervision, the Fire Alarm Helper assists with routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire alarm systems, and supports diagnosis and evaluation of systems requiring service, including troubleshooting issues found during inspections. The position may install and test fire alarm systems under the close guidance of a Fire Alarm Technician. Day-to-day work tasks are guided and directed by a Fire Alarm Technician.

Requirements

• Ability to follow verbal work instructions and directions.
• Capable of working independently and completing duties and projects with moderate supervision.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while under pressure to meet expected time frames.
• Initiative to learn the skills of the trade.
• Ability to read labels, signage, and directions, along with basic math computation skills.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Strong organization skills, a positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in construction or a similar field with demonstrated electrical skills, or related training.
• Ability to obtain and retain licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire alarm systems under direct supervision.
• Support diagnosis and evaluation of fire alarm systems that require servicing.
• Troubleshoot issues that arise during inspections under direct supervision.
• May install and test fire alarm systems under the close guidance of a Fire Alarm Technician.
• Follow day-to-day work guidance and direction from a Fire Alarm Technician.
