About The Position

This job analyzes and modifies systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing support systems. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives while relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8 years of related experience, OR 5 years with a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Job Control Language or its equivalent in the target application environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the included job processes.
  • Analytical skills and ability to use a logical thought process.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to travel out of town occasionally and work flexible schedule, such as nights, weekends, extended shifts.
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities and work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekends, holiday, on call availability).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5 years of programming experience.
  • 3 years of experience in cloud cost analysis, financial analysis, data analytics, cloud operations, or technology financial management.
  • Ability to analyze large billing and utilization datasets, identify anomalies, and quantify actionable recommendations.
  • Knowledge of budgets, forecasts, allocation, variance analysis, commitments, savings baselines, and realized-savings measurement.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and data-query skills.
  • Ability to explain analytical findings and required actions to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with IBM Cloudability or a comparable cloud cost-management platform and public-cloud billing data.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner, preferably at hire or within 12 months.
  • Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or cloud economics certification.
  • Power BI or data analytics certification.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library Foundation certification.
  • Experience with Azure, Amazon Web Services, Snowflake, tagging, rightsizing, reservations, and savings plans.

Responsibilities

  • Perform recurring cloud cost and usage analysis using IBM Cloudability and source-platform data.
  • Reconcile cloud billing, account hierarchies, ownership mappings, and allocation outputs.
  • Monitor spending, budgets, forecasts, and variances and explain material changes and emerging risks.
  • Investigate cost anomalies and coordinate corrective or preventive action with responsible teams.
  • Measure tagging, ownership, and allocation compliance and support remediation of incomplete or inaccurate metadata.
  • Identify rightsizing, idle-resource, scheduling, storage, licensing, commitment, and resource-retirement opportunities.
  • Quantify optimization recommendations with documented assumptions, dependencies, financial impact, risk, and priority.
  • Maintain the savings pipeline and track recommendations through validation, approval, execution, verification, and realized savings.
  • Support reservation and savings-plan analysis, including coverage, utilization, demand forecasts, terms, and financial risk.
  • Produce recurring dashboards and reports for executives, Finance, engineering, application owners, service owners, and cost owners.
  • Develop cost views by application, service, environment, account, business unit, and cost center.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting with baselines, trends, assumptions, and consumption scenarios.
  • Document analytical methods, data definitions, reporting logic, controls, and operating procedures.
  • Support optimization reviews, anomaly triage, stakeholder education, and FinOps maturity activities.
  • Performs analysis of assigned applications and business processes/functions.
  • Modifies and supports assigned applications/systems as appropriate.
  • Partners and communicates with assigned customers/end users.
  • Maintains and enhances professional competencies and industry knowledge.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
