About The Position

The Finishing Technician at Reader Precision Solutions plays a critical role in ensuring that machined parts meet all required specifications and are ready for on-time shipment to clients. This position involves performing various finishing operations (parts washing, tumbling, passivation, etc.) of components using high-tech finishing equipment, monitoring workflow to accommodate high-priority jobs, and maintaining proper inventory and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, capable of working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and committed to quality and continuous improvement. Shifts Available: 2nd Shift- Monday - Friday: 2:45pm - 11:15 pm

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • A sense of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in data entry with strong computer skills and accuracy.
  • Vision corrected to 20/20.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings (blueprint reading).
  • Proficiency in using basic and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize work according to changing schedules and tight timeframes.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task as needed.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics, including arithmetic and geometry.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and follow routing procedures within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Monitor production for hot jobs and adjust workflow to accommodate high-priority jobs.
  • Monitor inventory of materials and finishing solutions for various finishing machines and notify the Purchasing team if stock is low.
  • Keep the finishing area clean and organized; ensure proper handling and disposal of waste solvents and/or other chemicals.
  • Perform basic maintenance on finishing equipment, including oil and filter changes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of ISO work instructions.
  • Examine processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the team to determine the best finishing procedures for parts and maintain written documentation of procedures.
  • Complete secondary operation duties as needed, including laser marking, running mills/lathes, bench work inspecting machined components, buffing, and other assigned tasks.
