FINISHING PREP MAT. HANDLER - 3RD SHIFT - $18.02 - $16.40
About The Position
Sew rolls of fabric requiring the same finishing process together. This role involves determining cloth to be plated, pulling orders according to tickets, arranging tickets to match the sewing order, and ensuring fabric is sewn together in straight seams without twisting. The handler will also be responsible for moving fabric to the next process, maintaining a clean work area, operating equipment properly, and reporting any malfunctions. Safety is paramount, and all duties must be performed following established guidelines, including the use of a safety belt/harness when operating PIT equipment and maintaining 5S standards.
Requirements
- Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Be able to follow special instructions and directions.
- Forklift license is required for moving buggies and lifting fabric to storage tubes.
- Basic computer skills and use of LXE gun.
Responsibilities
- Determine cloth to be plated and pull order according to tickets.
- Arrange tickets to match the order in which fabric is sewn together.
- Pull cloth tightly between pins and sew together in straight seams, preventing bow and bias.
- Make sure fabric goes through the frame and folds into buggy or rolls unto T frame without getting twisted.
- Use the ladder provided to reach and correct problems with the plater rollers.
- Move fabric to the next process.
- Work scheduled overtime.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Keep the work area and equipment clean and free from safety hazards.
- Maintain proper housekeeping.
- Operate equipment properly.
- Report malfunctions or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers.
- Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
- Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.
- Maintain 5 S standards.
