About The Position

This position is Monday- Friday 3pm-11pm. The objective is to maintain correct and steady application of latex onto carpet, provide assistance to the coater operator and froth operator.

Requirements

  • Ensure carpet is feeding correctly into precoat direct applicator and Tillotson adhesive applicator, making sure to fix and report folded carpet to Coater Operator and Sew-on Operator.
  • Identify style to be run using Sew-In Tracker screen.
  • Reference spec sheet to identify correct application settings for the given style.
  • Enter correct settings into Latex Control System.
  • Manually check gap with gages and adjust system if necessary.
  • Visually inspect latex application and troubleshoot using Latex Control System as necessary. Notify supervisors of issues.
  • Make sure end dams are set up correctly and latex is not getting on carpet selvage. Adjust end dams as necessary.
  • Perform all previous steps again for each style change.
  • Manually check cupweight and viscosity 4 times per shift and log in notebook. Also do this for any backing or weight check requested by supervisor.
  • Ensure proper operation of pre-coat pumps and blenders.
  • Make sure soap, water, latex tank levels are sufficiently high.
  • Clean out precoat filter baskets twice per week.
  • Report any issues to supervisor.
  • Relieve the coater operator for breaks and absenteeism.
  • Relieve the froth operator for breaks and slack time (when froth operator is changing out secondary backing).
  • Conduct check at direction of supervisor.
  • Place 3 two-part paper forms on secondary (after application) as secondary rises to the marriage roller.
  • Place 3 2-part paper forms on alley side, center, and wall side.

  • Conduct secondary application weight checks at the direction of a supervisor by placing three two-part paper forms on secondary as it rises to the marriage roller (alley side, center, wall side).
