Manage the employees in the Finishing Department and maintain continuous production and quality in the Department. This role involves setting production standards, developing plans to meet and exceed those standards annually, and collaborating with process engineers on refining internal operations and improving efficiency. The manager is responsible for the manufacturing segment of new product development, setting personal and department goals aligned with the division, and submitting detailed monthly reports on production, speed, waste, and utilization. The position requires efficient use of business systems like Print Flow and Radius to analyze performance, review production plans, and participate in planning meetings to achieve OTIF and Production Goals. A mechanical aptitude is necessary to address daily manufacturing issues, distinguishing between operator, method, or machine-related problems. The role includes leading quality improvement efforts and acting as a trainer, leader, and coach for safety, actively participating on the Safety Committee. The manager must be available 24/7 to handle production problems, startups, and follow through on development orders. This includes evaluating backlogs and schedules to determine appropriate overtime and managing overtime budgets. Employee evaluations must be detailed, accurate, and timely. Continuous improvement is a key aspect, utilizing PIPs, departmental goals, and problem-solving teams. Responsibilities also encompass managing all Finishing Department employees, including scheduling vacations, approving timecards, personnel scheduling, conflict resolution, conducting monthly meetings, and driving continuous process improvement. Additionally, the manager will monitor costs of purchased supplies, manage inventory of suppliers, create department manuals and procedures, control and prepare paperwork for rejected raw materials, and order/negotiate prices for pallets.
