About The Position

The Finishing Assistant will be responsible for the safe and efficient packing and labeling of finished pouches and rolls, and for supplying all necessary materials to keep Finishing equipment operating at AF-Asheville. Key focuses include ensuring personal and co-worker safety, producing quality products in a timely manner, learning the operation of Finishing Equipment, and applying all safety, quality, and production procedures. Responsibilities include packing from slitting machines, assisting with testing and paperwork, and collaborating with co-workers to improve safety, quality, and production.

Requirements

  • 1 year working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to flex hours in order to support multi-shift operation.
  • Ability to stay on task and follow instruction.
  • Basic measurement, math, communication, reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply all Amcor safety, quality and production standards.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift continuously for up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Ability and willingness to drive forklift.
  • Must prioritize safety, above all else.

Responsibilities

  • Be aware of, adhere to, and help to improve all safety, quality, and production standards and procedures at AF-Asheville.
  • Label and palletize finished rolls to customer requirements.
  • Acquire and stock all necessary operating supplies and materials for the Finishing equipment.
  • Assist the Slitting operator with set ups, paperwork, and operation of equipment.
  • Train under the Slitting operator, Team Lead, and Supervisor to learn safe, efficient operation of Finishing equipment and safety, quality, and operation processes.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of Quality standards and procedures, and identify quality defects.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of Work Order specifications.
  • Complete tasks and help produce quality product in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Work with co-workers and management in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards of the work area.
  • Perform packing and material handling tasks as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
