Finisher (2nd Shift 3p.m. - 11:00p.m.)
About The Position
This position is responsible for performing the various skills of finishing a Case knife. This includes buffing blades and the entire surface of the knife to add shine or luster, honing the cutting edge of the blade, and polishing the edge to remove burrs. The role also involves performing sandpaper/belt changes, wheel changes, breaking in new buffs, applying buffing compound, measuring the angle of the honed edge, and determining quality levels through inspection before, during, and after finishing. The Finisher is responsible for maintaining a clean work area, taking instructions from supervisors, and assisting Engineering/Quality departments as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of W.R. Case Job/Safety Orientation.
- On the job training.
Responsibilities
- Assuring work area is safe.
- Performing the various skills of finishing a Case knife, including buffing blades, gloss buffing, honing, and polish edge.
- Perform sand paper/belt changes as required.
- Perform various wheel changes as required.
- Breaking in the new buff/raking down buff as necessary.
- Properly applying buffing compound to the buffing wheels.
- Measure the angle of the honed edge.
- Determine quality levels and perform inspection of product, performing required inspection before, during and after finishing.
- Responsible for cleanliness of the work area during and upon his or her completion of jobs.
- Take instructions from supervisors.
- Assist Engineering/Quality departments as needed.
