This role is responsible for operating the finishing line efficiently, performing secondary operations, completing paperwork, and setting up jobs. Requirements

  • At least 12-14 months of Sprayer experience.
  • Familiarity with and ability to utilize a tape measure, ruler, and micrometers.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Knowledgeable with the decimal system.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the finishing line in an efficient manner.
  • Perform secondary operations as needed or assigned.
  • Follow all procedures.
  • Complete paperwork accurately.
  • Perform job set-ups as needed.
  • Pursue training opportunities which further job skills.
  • Check routing/E-schedule for open balances and special instructions.
  • Ensure the work area is set up with all necessary materials and equipment.
  • Run 1st cycle on each job and complete a 1st piece inspection.
  • Sanding, cleaning, and preparation of exposed grade plywood surface using orbital sander and other tools up to 220 grit.
  • Identify and repair typical wood flaws such as lathe checking, flaking, veneer tear-out, orbital swirl marks, voids, etc.
  • Use of putty, lightning bond, and other materials as required.
  • Loading and unloading parts from the finishing line, including changing hooks.
  • Sealer sanding as required (typically with 400 grit sandpaper after the first coat of varnish).
  • Load and unload parts from the laser etching machine.
  • Pack finished parts properly before moving them to shipping.
  • Meet production rate and quality standards.
  • Dispose of linseed oil rags according to procedure.
  • Clean up work area at the end of the shift.
  • Return tools/fixtures/etc. to their proper locations.
  • Ensure hooks are in good operating condition and bring any hooks for repair into the tool room.
