About The Position

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, involved in civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction. This is a full-time, seasonal position requiring 10+ hours per day, with a schedule of 6 days on and 1 day off. Overtime is paid after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week. Options for living accommodations and daily allowances are available.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Finish Grader Operator.
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Experience with finishing work required.
Personal Reliable Vehicle
CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
Ability to work in physically demanding conditions
Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule

Responsibilities

Operate the grader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
Drive the grader in successive passes over working area, observing reference stakes or hand signals of other workers, to level the surface to the specified grade.
Finish grade base surface preparation to within half an inch.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the grader.
Ensure grader is in proper gear, and is not moving too fast for working conditions.
Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.
