About The Position

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction. Work Local - Work Sureway! This is a full-time, seasonal position located at the Nutrien Redwater Fertilizer Plant in Redwater, AB. The schedule involves 10+ hours per day, with a 6 days on, 1 day off rotation. Overtime is paid after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week. The role requires a hard-working, reliable individual who is flexible with their schedule and can work in physically demanding conditions.

Requirements

Personal Reliable Vehicle
CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Finish Grader Operator.
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Experience with finishing work required
Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions

Responsibilities

Operate the grader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
Drive the grader in successive passes over working area, observing reference stakes or hand signals of other workers, to level the surface to the specified grade.
Finish grade base surface preparation to within half an inch.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the grader.
Ensure grader is in proper gear, and is not moving too fast for working conditions.
Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and draw.
