About The Position

OpenEd, a student-centered, online personalized education program, is seeking Washington-certified teachers with a Fine Arts endorsement for engaging, flexible, work-from-home opportunities. This part-time role supports students and families through personalized learning, focusing on deep, individualized student support, goal setting, progress monitoring, and mentorship. The role involves preparing monthly progress reports, reviewing and grading student learning logs, and tracking participation. It is a non-traditional teaching role emphasizing mentorship, flexibility, personalized support, and ongoing student engagement rather than a single classroom or fixed course load. Assignments are based on student and program needs and may include tutoring or small-group instruction. Regular synchronous work with students, ongoing communication with families, and active support of individualized learning goals are expected.

Requirements

  • Current Washington teaching certification, with a Fine Arts endorsement.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding that every child is unique and benefits from individualized learning.
  • Kind, organized, patient, and dependable communicator.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.).
  • Confidence in the ability to learn various online tools, systems, and programs.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Access to a smartphone, high-speed internet, computer, and webcam.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Review and grade student learning logs, providing timely, actionable feedback to support student progress.
  • Provide weekly accountability and encouragement for students.
  • Prepare and share monthly progress reports to communicate student progress.
  • Work synchronously with students in 1:1, small-group, or large-group settings.
  • Mentor and tutor students enrolled in assigned courses.
  • Create engaging lessons, activities, or learning opportunities.
  • Tailor resources and support to meet individual student needs.
  • Identify at-risk students and coordinate appropriate routes to intervention.
  • Communicate with parents to provide guidance and support.
  • Attend IEP meetings as needed and collaborate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to share expertise and support students across the program.
  • Complete additional grading and instructional responsibilities, as applicable.
  • Support a core group of assigned students through ongoing mentorship and learning log responsibilities, while also contributing to additional assignments across the program based on team and student needs.
  • Participate in a positive, collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on student success.
