About The Position

The Michigan State Lottery is seeking a dependable, honest, motivated, and hardworking individual with a positive attitude and strong ethical standards to join their team. The Michigan State Lottery generates revenue through the sale of Lottery tickets at retail locations and over the internet, with profits used to supplement state education programs. This position is responsible for the maintenance, review, analysis, and reconciliation of up to $50 million in advertising fund expenditures for traditional and digital gaming platforms. The role involves auditing, analyzing, and providing Procurement Budget level approval for all procurement documents in the state-wide accounting system (SIGMA), ensuring proper classification and line allocation. The position also assists with the approval and release of financial journal entries in SIGMA, as well as vendor invoice and inter-agency payment documents. Additionally, this position serves as a financial data coordinator for various FOIA and interagency financial data requests.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics.
  • Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Financial Analyst; including two years equivalent to a Financial Analyst P11, Accountant P11, or Auditor P11 or one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 12, Accountant 12, or Auditor 12.
  • Must submit to an initial background check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must not make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process.
  • Must remain at the testing site until the testing process is completed and be permitted up to 3 hours to provide a sufficient specimen for the drug test.
  • A criminal history background check will be required for positions within the Bureau of State Lottery.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a Certificate in Public Accounting (CPA) may be substituted for one year of Financial Analyst P11 experience.
