The Financial Services Specialist I at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) is responsible for performing professional fiscal and accounting support functions for the agency/business office. This includes processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, bond requisitions, journal entries, reconciliations, fiscal reporting, and maintaining financial records in accordance with Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP), agency procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations. The position also serves as backup support to the Accounting Supervisor and the Grant/Medicaid Specialist, ensuring continuity of fiscal operations, compliance, reporting accuracy, and internal controls. The role ensures adherence to federal regulations, Commonwealth policies, and agency procedures, supporting program integrity, financial accountability, and service delivery outcomes. As a subject matter specialist with substantial experience in accounting, the Financial Services Specialist I will provide technical assistance, financial analysis, and regulatory guidance to internal staff, local departments, and external partners.
