About The Position

Our client is seeking to recruit an Accountant to join their growing team in Malta or Gozo. This opportunity is ideal for a fully qualified accountant who is looking to further develop their professional career within a dynamic and supportive environment. The successful candidate will be a highly organised, motivated, and detail-oriented professional with at least two years of experience in a client accounting role. Reporting to the Accounts Manager and Assistant Manager, the selected individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality accounting and compliance services.

Requirements

  • University degree in Accountancy (Honours or Master's) or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Recognised Maltese VAT qualification from an established professional institution.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a client accounting environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Solid understanding of GAPSME and IFRS.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Italian will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Capable of working effectively under pressure and managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the work of the accounts department.
  • Review work prepared by Accounts Executives and junior team members.
  • Ensure assignments are completed within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with auditors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Address client queries and provide professional support.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements and management accounts.
  • Maintain and update client bookkeeping records on a regular basis.
  • Support management with additional accounting-related tasks as required.
