About The Position

The Financial Hub Associate provides backend and direct support to the members who utilize the Financial Hub. This role focuses on practical budgeting support, confidence-building, and helping members navigate financial systems in a safe, non-judgmental way. The Financial Hub Associate works alongside staff and external services while modelling hope, self-determination, and recovery. The role also bottom lines a few essential tasks that support our members in our social enterprise program: running payroll, giving out checks, and procuring insurance.

Requirements

  • Experience with QuickBooks or other payroll software
  • Experience with purchasing and maintaining insurance for businesses
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience supporting others in navigating benefits, banking systems, budgeting, or financial processes (formal or informal)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse individuals
  • Comfort working with financial tools, paperwork, and basic technology (email, data entry, online portals)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow organizational policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • additional education or training in peer support, financial literacy, or human services is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to members around budgeting, money management, and financial wellbeing
  • Complete bi-monthly payroll through QuickBooks to ensure members working on social enterprises receive timely, correct payments
  • Invoice customers in QuickBooks for hours worked by members in the social enterprises
  • Pay quarterly sales taxes for Fountain House and Body
  • Ensure that insurances for the social enterprises are active and all required documentation is completed
  • Maintain professional boundaries while offering empathetic, person-centered support
  • Responsible for guiding members through the process of setting up both pooled income and special needs trusts, and supporting them to access their benefits
  • Support members to set-up and navigate ABLE accounts and advise them around the guidelines of the program
  • Accompany members to appointments in the community, and support them to succeed at these appointments, including: opening bank accounts, benefits offices, and legal hearings
  • Advocate for members with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist members to access their money, including banking, benefits, and other financial support
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in line with organizational policies
  • Participate in trainings, supervision, and team meetings to position oneself to be as impactful as possible in the larger strategy.
