About The Position

Navigator Credit Union is seeking a full-time Financial Service Officer (FSO) for its MS region, which includes branches in Gulfport, D’iberville, Ocean Springs, Gautier, Jackson Ave, Hurley, Vancleave, and Moss Point. While a home branch will be assigned, employees may be asked to cover at other branches within the region. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about exceptional service, relationship building, and contributing to the communities served while exceeding goals. The position operates in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of direct customer service experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Above average communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Must successfully complete financial counselor certification program within the first 6 months in position.
  • Above average problem-solving skills, with an understanding of ownership of the member experience.
  • Self-motivated, trustworthy, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to speak to various sized groups.
  • Able to lead by example.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to cross-sell and achieve established branch and individual goals.
  • Must be able to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency situation.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of local travel as a driver and travel by commercial airlines, rental vehicles, and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
  • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
  • Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.
  • Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
  • Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Financial Advisor responsible for providing financial solutions, including opening new accounts, referring applications, answering member questions, problem-solving, and owning the member experience.
  • Engage in conversations with members and prospective members about financial products/services that can save them time, money, or create convenience.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all credit union products/services, including mobile banking and technical services.
  • Provide an exceptional member experience and address member needs.
  • Build relationships with members through various channels (face-to-face, phone, online banking, electronic communications, business visits) by discussing banking needs and financial goals.
  • Assist members with basic transactions and more complex financial needs.
  • Build relationships within the community and represent Navigator Credit Union positively.
  • Educate members on managing money wisely, making sound financial decisions, and achieving financial stability.
  • Provide guidance on building credit scores, budgeting, and setting financial goals.
  • Conduct consultative conversations to proactively offer credit union products and services, expanding member relationships.
  • Support and promote the features and benefits of products and services.
  • Perform administrative duties, including system data entry and information retrieval, to support member service.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulatory statutes, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Perform multiple roles within the branch.
  • Display a positive, self-starter disposition when dealing with internal and external members.
  • Uphold high levels of integrity, leadership, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
