About The Position

Ferguson Elementary School is seeking a Financial Secretary to provide secretarial support. This role involves communicating information to staff, the public, and other districts, ensuring compliance with financial, legal, and administrative requirements, overseeing office activities, and providing direction as needed. The position requires obtaining CPR and First Aid Training certificates, and the physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations. The employee must work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. Responsibilities include student safety and security, and this position is considered safety-sensitive. The role operates on a 200-day/year schedule with 8 hours/day, and the hourly pay rate ranges from $19.51 to $21.96.

Requirements

  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid Training certificates.
  • Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations.
  • Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens).
  • Be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and direct telephone correspondence in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Keep all records and documentation in an organized system.
  • Do all necessary typing, duplication, and other office procedures.
  • Initiate and update all student files.
  • Handle office visitors in a manner requiring the application of considerable knowledge of school district policies.
  • Professionally prepare correspondence, policies, protocols, procedures, handbooks, and reports on a computer and circulate as needed.
  • Perform daily attendance calls for absent students.
  • Keep school account books balanced and make monthly reports.
  • Collect, count, and record all cafeteria money and keep records of cafeteria accounts.
  • Be knowledgeable of school policies and procedures and convey them.
  • Make all monthly reports as required by the district office.
  • Initiate and update all confidential student files.
  • Handle all receipts of money coming into the office and keep an accounting of it.
  • Collect, count, and record school supply and activity fees as well as keep records of these accounts.
  • Place orders for supplies and materials.
  • Provide basic first aid for minor student injuries.
  • Administer and keep records of student medications.
  • Manage charge card accounts (e.g., Walmart, Home Depot, and Amazon) and District P-Cards.
  • Maintain student records on the online student database.
  • Perform other such duties as may be assigned by the school principal or designee.
