About The Position

The Financial Reporting Manager provides leadership, oversight, and development for the Financial Reporting team. This position leads the Credit Union's external financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and technical accounting functions while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The Financial Reporting Manager partners across the organization to support complex accounting matters, strengthen reporting processes, and develop a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in accounting or finance position, preferably in a financial institution or public accounting position.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial reporting.
  • Minimum of two years successful supervisory experience and/or demonstrated leadership skills in directing, delegating, facilitating change, problem solving, coaching, and counseling staff.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Proven experience with report writing and/or data base (SQL, data warehouse).
  • Strong interpersonal skills required with the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality in sensitive matters.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes and handle/prioritize tasks, competing demands, simultaneous projects etc. in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to clarify and articulate key message points as well as voice and defend opinions.
  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 10 pounds with accommodations.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate, efficient, and reliable financial reporting by leading and developing a high-performing Financial Reporting team and continuously enhancing reporting processes, technologies, financial systems, and internal controls.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant accounting for specialized financial activities by leading the Credit Union's technical accounting functions, including CECL, loan accounting, participations, OREO, CIP, accounting research, and the application of new accounting guidance.
  • Lead the Credit Union’s external financial reporting, regulatory filings, and financial statement audit processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting by maintaining effective internal controls, ensuring adherence to accounting and regulatory requirements, and supporting successful regulatory examinations.
  • Contribute to organizational and department strategies to move the organization forward.
  • Ensure all financial reporting is accurate and submitted on time. Implement necessary changes to reporting processes when required and stay current on policy changes that may affect reporting requirements and compliance.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional finance and accounting projects, including merger and acquisition accounting activities.
  • Administer effective project management and prioritization for department projects.
