About The Position

Financial Reporting Assistant Vice President helps supervise a team’s preparation of monthly, semi-annual and annual reports for mutual funds in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements. AVPs are the primary contact for clients, respond proactively to internal and external client inquiries, manage the preparation of financial statements and review SEC filings, are the primary owner of the annual audit process, demonstrate a solid understanding of mutual funds and financial markets, lead training sessions to increase the team’s knowledge, identify and/or implement process improvements to reduce risk and improve efficiency, oversee client reporting, manage various projects, and participate in committees and other department initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related area or equivalent work experience
  • 5-7 years accounting or reporting experience in the registered investment company or financial services industry
  • Advanced experience working with Microsoft Office applications required, especially Excel
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Willingness to work outside of normal work hours when necessarily, especially during peak financial reporting cycles
  • Motivated to continuous self-improvement

  • Prior team lead or supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly coaching/feedback sessions with Analysts
  • Escalate issues timely and appropriately to senior management
  • Oversee projects effectively
