The Financial Reporting Accountant position is based in Pembina's Calgary office and reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting within the Accounting & Corporate Controller team, part of the Financial Services division. This team is responsible for financial reporting and accounting leadership, including the preparation and compilation of consolidated financial statements, notes, MD&A, and operational highlights. They also establish and ensure adherence to accounting policies, review new accounting standards, manage capital assets accounting, handle legal entity reporting, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain SAP FI/CO data integrity. The Financial Reporting Accountant will prepare and analyze financial reports, ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and contribute to the delivery of accurate and timely financial information.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance along with a CPA accounting designation.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including exposure to quarter-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
Experience working with accounting and financial reporting systems, including SAP.
Ability to identify key IFRS financial reporting issues through the application of accounting and operational knowledge.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hardworking environment where successful employees are comfortable embracing change as a standard.
Detail-oriented and analytical professional with the ability to learn quickly, manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Possesses strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
Must be legally able to work in the country of the position.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting external audit engagements within a public accounting environment is considered an asset.
Familiarity with BPC or similar consolidation tools is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”.
Perform various duties in support of both internal monthly scorecard reporting and quarterly external financial reporting.
Support in preparation and delivery of monthly internal reporting package with specific focus on preparing the balance sheet and cash flow statements.
Support the quarterly management discussion and analysis and financial statement process including but not limited to, preparing supplemental reports, gathering data, and performing tie-outs.
Preparation of additional reporting requirements, for example Statistics Canada requests.
Build and maintain strong working relationships across Accounting and Financial teams, collaborating with key stakeholders to support financial reporting, analysis, and business objectives.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Business Units.
