About The Position

This Business Analyst role focuses on creating, maintaining, and improving documentation that supports key financial and payroll systems across the organization. The position works closely with Product Leads for Financial Systems and Payroll to develop end‑user guides, quick reference materials, training documents, system documentation, configuration guides, and technical references. The Business Analyst ensures that users can effectively navigate and utilize critical business applications by gathering information from subject matter experts, observing business processes, and reviewing existing materials. The role also standardizes and enhances standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational, support, and administrative processes, while ensuring all documentation aligns with established templates, style guidelines, and branding standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience documenting business processes, systems, or workflows.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience writing and standardizing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience interviewing subject matter experts and observing workloads to gather requirements and process details.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, concise content.
  • Proficiency in SOP writing, including structuring procedures, defining roles, and outlining step‑by‑step activities.
  • Experience documenting workflows and business processes in a structured, logical manner.
  • Ability to apply organizational branding, templates, and style guidelines consistently across all documentation.
  • Experience using SharePoint to store, organize, and manage documentation and related materials.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, consistency, and quality in all written materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with subject matter experts, product leads, and other stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with government organizations or in public sector environments.
  • Background in financial industries or experience with financial systems and processes.
  • Familiarity with documentation standards and best practices for technical and business audiences.
  • Ability to create visual aids such as screenshots, diagrams, and process flows to complement written documentation.
  • Comfort working in a mostly remote environment with periodic onsite collaboration.
  • Interest in supporting legislative or governmental initiatives through high‑quality documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Create clear, accurate, and user‑friendly documentation for financial and payroll systems, including end‑user guides, quick reference materials, training documents, and technical references.
  • Develop, write, and standardize standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operational, support, and administrative processes across the organization.
  • Gather information by interviewing subject matter experts and observing business processes and workloads to understand system functionality and user needs.
  • Review existing documentation and materials to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to organizational templates, style guidelines, and branding standards, including consistent application of company branding.
  • Create configuration guides and system documentation that accurately describe system setups, workflows, and dependencies.
  • Develop instructional materials, job aids, screenshots, diagrams, and step‑by‑step visual walkthroughs to support training initiatives and user adoption.
  • Manage documentation review cycles to keep content current as systems, procedures, and workflows evolve.
  • Organize documentation in SharePoint or similar repositories to enable easy access, retrieval, and version control.
  • Recommend improvements to documentation practices, workflows, and standards to enhance clarity, usability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Leads for Financial Systems and Payroll, as well as other stakeholders, to align documentation with business requirements and system changes.
  • Support the broader organization by providing documentation that facilitates effective use of financial systems and, where applicable, supports government‑related initiatives.
