About The Position

The Financial Planning & Analysis Lead, reporting to the Director of Finance, drives financial planning, performance analysis, and management reporting. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial trends to support strategic decision-making. It involves building financial models, developing KPIs, and delivering clear insights in collaboration with finance, business units, and leadership. The position also supports initiatives like mergers, new business lines, and system improvements, while ensuring compliance with policies and GAAP and promoting a more data-driven finance function.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or accounting, preferably within a financial institution or similarly complex environment.
  • Strong and analytical with financial modeling, and the ability to interpret data and identify key drivers.
  • Experienced with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficient in excel with experience in Power BI or similar tools.

  • A graduate degree (e.g., MBA, MBAN) or professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA) will be considered an asset; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and coordinates the annual budgeting process in partnership with the Director of Finance and VP, Finance & Corporate Services, including development of key assumptions and drivers.
  • Maintains and enhances financial models to support forecasting, scenario analysis, and strategic planning.
  • Supports rolling forecasts and monitors performance against plan, identifying variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provides financial oversight by tracking performance against budgets and forecasts and highlighting key trends.
  • Partners with business units to understand performance drivers and support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Prepares and contributes to management reporting, including performance insights for ELT and Board reporting.
  • Supports finance transformation initiatives, including reporting standardization, system enhancements, and data quality improvements.
  • Assists with mergers, integrations, and data migration activities, including performance tracking and reporting alignment.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve reporting efficiency through automation.
  • Participates in cross-functional projects and may represent Finance on data, systems, and business process initiatives.
