About The Position

FINANCIAL OPERATIONS ANALYST II JOB DESCRIPTION LEVEL CLASSIFICATION This is a senior-level individual contributor role for experienced professionals who demonstrate advanced analytical capabilities, independent judgment, and the ability to manage complex financial operations across broader organizational scope. The Financial Operations Analyst II operates with a high degree of autonomy, serves as a subject matter resource for the team, and provides light mentoring to Analyst I staff. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Responsible for providing advanced operational accounting, business analytics, and process oversight in the operations department. Must be able to accurately compute, report, and verify numerical data in a professional and knowledgeable manner, ensuring adherence to company policies and general accounting principles. Exercises independent judgment to resolve complex issues, identify process improvements, and support management decision-making through insightful analysis and recommendations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform and report comprehensive budget-to-actual variance analysis across multiple branches and/or an entire region, identifying trends, root causes, and actionable recommendations for management. Lead producer payable audit processes end-to-end, resolve complex or non-routine errors, and prepare and distribute monthly reports to specified payees; recommend procedural improvements to reduce recurring discrepancies. Design, prepare, and analyze periodic and ad-hoc business management reports; develop new reporting frameworks and refine existing templates to enhance management visibility and decision-making. Assume responsibility for independently researching, tracking, and resolving complex accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies, including cross-functional issues requiring coordination across departments. Lead and perform business management systems audits; evaluate audit findings and recommend process or control improvements. Oversee the premium finance agreement submission process, proactively identifying systemic issues and implementing solutions to ensure timely and accurate funding. Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with company personnel and management, including presenting analytical findings and recommendations to leadership. Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct complex transactions; serve as a point of escalation for cross-departmental discrepancies. Assist Accounting Department personnel as needed, providing guidance on complex accounting matters. Keep management informed of area activities, significant problems, and recommended solutions. Provide light mentoring and guidance to Financial Operations Analyst I staff, including reviewing their work for accuracy, answering procedural questions, and supporting their professional development. Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial analysis, or related roles, with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility.
  • Detail oriented with above-average analytical skills and the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to solve complex, non-routine problems and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, complex formulas, data visualization); proficiency in Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately, including percentages, fractions, decimals, and complex financial formulae.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of agency operations, agency management, and business administration practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of agency workflow procedures and software, underwriting, sales, and service processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the proven ability to independently manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic; team player who can also serve as a resource and mentor to junior staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; 3–5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial analysis roles.
  • Uses good judgment at all times; exercises independent decision-making on complex matters.
  • Reliable, regular, and on-time attendance.
  • Keeps commitments; keeps others informed of work progress, timetables, and issues; addresses problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions.
