About The Position

Do you have experience with accounting, auditing, process improvement, and project management? Utah Correctional Industries is looking for a Finance Manager I. The basic duties behind this position are: Perform mid-level accounting tasks for Utah Correctional Industries. Accounting skills involving the review and validation of offender deposits, detailed bank reconciliations, monitoring and tracking of offender financial obligations that would include the completeness, accuracy, and proper designation of all offender obligations. Ensure the offender accounting staff function in accordance with the appropriate State and Department policy and procedures dealing with all offender accounting functions. Direction of the offender accounting program including communication with all areas of the department to correctly record, track, and audit all aspects of offender accounting. Serves as a backup for the technical requirements of all offender accounting functions. Supervision of subordinate staff.

Requirements

  • Perform mid-level accounting tasks for Utah Correctional Industries.

  • Ensure the offender accounting staff function in accordance with the appropriate State and Department policy and procedures dealing with all offender accounting functions.
  • Direction of the offender accounting program including communication with all areas of the department to correctly record, track, and audit all aspects of offender accounting.
  • Serves as a backup for the technical requirements of all offender accounting functions.
  • Supervision of subordinate staff.
  • High working level of accounting, analysis, organization, communication and creativity.
  • Technical and operational knowledge of accounting systems, auditing theory and practices, debt management, unclaimed property, special projects and research assigned from management are needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manages special fiscal projects or activities of a highly specialized nature (review/control of internal services and trust funds, development of forms/reports, etc.)
  • Manages accounting or budget activities and provides fiscal information.
  • Develops or modifies rules, policies, standards, etc.
  • Performs statistical and actuarial analysis by applying appropriate protocols in analyzing data and reaching accurate conclusions.
  • Interprets, clarifies, explains, and applies agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal or state laws and regulations, etc.
  • Analyzes, summarizes and reviews data, reports findings, interprets results, and makes recommendations.
  • Reviews fiscal operations to ensure integrity, accuracy, and control of data.
  • Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload, delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
