Requirements

  • 10 to 20 years of experience with titles like CFO, Controller, FP&A Director, Principal Consultant, or Business Owner.
  • Worked inside SMBs, not just for them.
  • Ability to build a financial model.
  • Proud of conversations that changed decisions and companies.
  • Thinks like a business owner.
  • Does not need everything handed to them and does not mind getting in the weeds if there is a purpose.
  • Has thick skin professionally; able to tell clients what they need to hear.
  • Finds 30 to 35 focused hours a week appealing.
  • Prefers to be paid for results rather than seat time.
  • Wants work that is meaningful, interesting, and challenging with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Must reside in Texas or Georgia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Economics or an MBA required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial leadership, with titles such as CFO, Controller, FP&A Director, or Business Owner.
  • Hands-on experience supporting small to mid-sized businesses ($3M to $100M+ in annual revenue).
  • Proven ability to drive profitability improvement, margin expansion, and cash flow optimization through financial analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, dashboards, and analytics tools.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements concurrently in a fast-paced consulting environment.

  • Previous business owner or entrepreneurial experience considered a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Hold a portfolio of SMB clients (companies with $3M to $50M in revenue) as their outsourced financial leader.
  • Own the models, forecasts, dashboards, and KPIs that leadership actually uses.
  • Help owners and management teams every month translate numbers into decisions.
  • Push clients on pricing, labor efficiency, and margin improvement.
  • Contribute to improving the firm's methodology, delivery, and tools based on client engagement learnings.
