About The Position

BRMi is seeking a Financial Intelligence Analyst with Know Your Customer (KYC) experience. This role involves performing complex customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and account activity analysis to identify customer risk factors, suspicious activity, and regulatory concerns across consumer and business relationships. The analyst will review customer information, business structures, beneficial ownership documentation, and transaction activity to ensure compliance with KYC, BSA/AML, OFAC, and applicable regulatory requirements. This position supports customer onboarding, ongoing due diligence, sanctions compliance, risk assessments, and investigative activities through research, analysis, and documentation. The role requires maintaining knowledge of KYC, BSA/AML, and OFAC regulations, industry guidance, and emerging financial crime trends, while providing subject matter expertise to business partners. Work is performed under moderate supervision.

Requirements

• Experience in KYC, AML, Compliance, Financial Crimes, Fraud Operations, Risk Management, Banking Operations, or related operational functions.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to review and interpret complex documentation, ownership structures, and member information.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make risk-based decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

• Knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, OFAC sanctions requirements, and financial crimes risk management practices.
• Experience conducting onboarding reviews, risk assessments, periodic reviews, or ongoing due diligence activities.
• Experience analyzing personal and business account documentation, legal entity structures, and ownership hierarchies.
• Experience preparing Requests for Information (RFIs) and resolving documentation deficiencies.
• Experience working with case management, onboarding, compliance, or financial crimes monitoring systems.
• Familiarity with adverse media research, sanctions screening, and risk-based review methodologies.
• Ability to identify trends, recommend process improvements, and support operational efficiency initiatives.
• Relevant certifications such as CAMS, CAFP, CRCM, or ACAMS Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Simplified Due Diligence (SDD), and business onboarding reviews in accordance with Navy Federal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze member and business information to assess risk, identify potential concerns, and support informed onboarding and account maintenance decisions.
• Review organizational structures, beneficial ownership information, business activities, and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and compliance.
• Develop and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) to obtain additional documentation or clarification necessary to complete reviews.
• Evaluate member responses and supporting evidence to determine sufficiency and identify when additional escalation or review is warranted.
• Document review findings, risk assessments, and recommendations in a clear, accurate, and audit-defensible manner.
• Apply risk-based decision making when evaluating businesses, ownership structures, industry classifications, and customer activity profiles.
• Monitor assigned work queues and manage reviews within established service level agreements (SLAs), quality standards, and regulatory timelines.
• Collaborate with Advisory, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Business Services, and other business partners to resolve onboarding and risk-related concerns.
• Identify trends, process improvement opportunities, and emerging risks and provide recommendations to leadership to enhance operational effectiveness.
• Support implementation of new KYC procedures, workflow enhancements, testing efforts, job aids, and operational initiatives.
• Maintain current knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, FinCEN guidance, Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD) requirements, and industry best practices.
