About The Position

The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida’s gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities. The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of nearly 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement. Requirements

  • Knowledge of statutes and rules as it relates to pari-mutuel, cardroom, and slot gaming.
  • Skilled in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish effective working relationships with others while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare comprehensive reports utilizing problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to effectively use computer software and hardware and apply technical innovations to existing programs.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data as it relates to slot, pari-mutuel, cardroom, and budget information.
  • Ability to create spreadsheets and graphs.
  • Ability to learn the Central Monitoring System and utilize the system to create reports.
  • Four (4) years of audit, compliance, or regulatory experience. A bachelor's degree in a business-related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, examines, analyzes, and reconciles monthly financial reports submitted by permit holders against the Central Monitoring System (CMS) data to determine compliance with rules and statutes. This includes pari-mutuel, cardrooms, and slot activity;
  • Reviews, examines, analyzes and perform audits of annual financial statements (UARs) submitted by permit holders to determine compliance with rules and statutes;
  • Performs charity/scholarship financial audits to ensure compliance with rules and statutes. Audits include reviewing financial reports against the CMS, bank statements, general ledgers, canceled checks, and verification of financial distribution to eligible charities;
  • Scanning and indexing completed audits and reconciliation into OnBase, ensuring documents are indexed properly and readable;
  • Timely and accurately prepares and updates the annual report pages assigned to be compiled for the Commission’s Annual Report;
  • Researches and prepares responses to information requests as needed; and
  • Completes the required hours of training and maintains documentation for verification.
