About The Position

The Georgia Department of Revenue is seeking a Financial Examiner 1 to join the Fraud Unit within the Audits Division. This is an opportunity for a motivated professional who enjoys solving problems, working collaboratively, and using sound judgment to help ensure the integrity of tax-related processes. In this role, you will work alongside colleagues across the department to identify issues, resolve complex matters, and support the appropriate release of funds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with fraud investigations.
  • Experience working with state and federal entities involved in fraud, including ISAC, MITRE, and SFE.
  • Knowledge or experience serving as an SQR coordinator or tester.

Responsibilities

  • Protect the integrity of tax processes by reviewing and verifying tax documents, including assets and liabilities, and ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate across teams with Business Analysts and IT staff to identify and correct issues involving the Discovery Campaign and mass account adjustments.
  • Support system testing and improvement including identifying issues involving missing W-2s and the Tax Clearance Portal.
  • Partner with the Fraud Manager program by assisting call center agents and the Fraud Scheme Team.
  • Support investigations and resolution efforts by assisting Special Agents, the Tribunal Appeals Group, and other internal partners when needed.
