About The Position

The Financial Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of financial information for Encore Canada. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for analyzing, reconciling, and recording complex financial data in Oracle. Primarily focusing on compensation-related transactions, payroll accounting, accruals, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will partner with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, HR, and Corporate Finance teams to streamline processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and support data-driven decision-making. This role combines accounting expertise with strong analytical and data management skills to ensure financial results are accurately reflected and reported. In addition to day-to-day accounting responsibilities, the Financial Data Analyst will participate in continuous improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and special projects that support organizational objectives and finance transformation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, financial reporting, or data analytics.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Workday, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate large datasets while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • High attention to detail with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Power BI, business intelligence tools, reporting platforms, or data visualization solutions is preferred.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of compensation related calculations and posting into the Oracle
  • Prepare and post recurring and ad hoc journal entries, including month-end accruals and adjustments.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis of monthly results, identifying and explaining variances across key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Complete balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy and completeness.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Partner with Accounting, Payroll, HR, and Finance teams to ensure accurate recording of compensation and employee-related transactions.
  • Collaborate with U.S. Corporate Finance teams to support cross-border accounting requirements, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency through automation and standardization.
  • Work in conjunction with the accounting manager to fulfill audit requests both internally and externally on an ad hoc basis.
