About The Position

The Financial Data Analyst partners closely with stakeholders across the Finance, Global Operations and Commercial Teams at MTA to turn business questions into clear, actionable insights. As part of a Finance-embedded Analytics Team, this role surfaces the business needs behind data requests, determines the right questions to answer, and delivers analysis and reporting that drive decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, analytics, data science or similar field required
  • 1-3 years of experience in analytics, reporting or data-adjacent role
  • Experience building reports and dashboards in Tableau (or similar BI tool)
  • Working knowledge of SQL (extracting data, joining tables and troubleshooting when something looks off)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including complex functions and pivot tables
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical judgement and critical and abstract reasoning skills
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Demonstrated ability to translate a business question into an analytical approach with manageable parts
  • Curiosity about data and business problems and willingness to ask questions when something is unclear
  • Demonstrated ability and initiative for learning new tools quickly
  • Strongly self-disciplined; thrives in a virtual team environment
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones and relate to diverse cultures

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with event industry or project-based revenue recognition is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards in Tableau and other BI tools
  • Analyze financial and operational performance trends to identify potential drivers and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Define and refine business metrics and KPIs
  • Use SQL or similar tools to source, validate, and explore data for reporting
  • Work with stakeholders across the company from initial request through delivery to translate loosely defined problems or business questions into analytical approaches
  • Ask clarifying questions to ensure analysis is aligned to the business need
  • Communicate findings clearly and honestly to internal and external stakeholders, highlighting trends and actionable insights
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues independently, ensuring accuracy and integrity across reporting solutions
  • Document analytical process and methodology to support accuracy, repeatability, and team knowledge
  • Contribute to evolving data practices and process improvement as the analytics function grows
