About The Position

Responsible for accurate, timely and complete documentation regarding insurance verification, billing and collections. This role involves financial counseling of patients and/or guarantors, collecting out-of-pocket expenses, and providing information about benefits and financial obligations. The position also requires completing financial disclosure paperwork, adjustment forms, and promissory notes, as well as updating various logs and interpreting system data to initiate payment collection steps.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three or more years' experience in a related field required.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Commercial Insurance and Medicare/Medicaid required.

Responsibilities

  • Auditing admission packets and verifying benefits and patient demographic information in the patient accounting system.
  • Providing financial counseling to patients and/or guarantors and collecting out-of-pocket expenses (deductibles, copays, exhausted days, etc.).
  • Informing patients and/or guarantors about their benefits and financial obligations.
  • Completing financial disclosure paperwork for patients requesting assistance, including verifying income and expenses.
  • Completing adjustment forms for charity or administrative adjustments for approval.
  • Completing promissory notes for patients requesting payment arrangements.
  • Updating the upfront collection log, charity log, and admin adjustment log daily.
  • Reviewing logs with BOD on a weekly basis.
  • Gathering and interpreting data from the system to understand the appropriate course of action and initiating time-sensitive and strategic steps resulting in payment.
  • Performing other functions and tasks as assigned.
