Financial Counselor, OPA Foot/Ankle Anchorage, Full-Time Orthopedic Physicians Alaska seeks a highly skilled, dedicated and professional Financial Counselor to join our rapidly growing and dynamic team. Each of our physicians and surgeons works in concert with a certified orthopedic surgical physician assistant and other staff to provide patients an individualized care-team experience. Currently, we have offices in Anchorage, Wasilla, and Eagle River. Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
  • Basic collection experience
  • Knowledge of billing procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of primary and secondary coordination of insurance benefits
  • Able to understand and explain EOBs
  • Able to work in an integrated team that includes claims processing, payment posting, collections and pre-certification
  • One (1) year of medical office experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year financial counseling in an orthopedic office

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service to all patients
  • Review guarantor balances and discuss payment and financial hardship options with patients
  • Answer patient calls regarding account questions, concerns or complaints
  • Answer insurance and billing questions for patients and staff
  • Contact patients regarding current balances prior to appointments
  • Obtain and process payments made by phone and payments made in person
  • Review accounts for follow up action needed
