Financial Controller

American Rooter & DrainCaldwell, ID
$7,500 - $10,000Onsite

About The Position

We are building an accounting services group for a plumbing, HVAC, electrical, drain, and septic contractor and are hiring our first Controller. This role will own the monthly close process from start to finish, including reconciling the general ledger to the ServiceTitan subledger, ensuring balance-sheet integrity across multiple entities and business units, and properly correcting prior-period errors. The Controller will also be responsible for loan principal/interest splitting, fixed assets, depreciation, and producing a monthly reporting package with explanations. A key part of this role is reviewing the bookkeeper's work and documenting processes thoroughly enough for someone else to follow. This is an opportunity to build a finance function from the ground up, with potential for future leadership and equity.

Requirements

  • Experience tracking down significant discrepancies between a subledger and a general ledger.
  • Document processes as they are performed.
  • Comfortable using software, pulling own reports, learning new systems independently, and reporting bugs rather than creating workarounds.
  • Ability to communicate difficult financial information to business owners pleasantly.
  • Multi-entity experience.
  • ServiceTitan or similar field-service software experience is a plus.
  • Trades, construction, or home services background is a plus.
