About The Position

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing key financial controllership activities and ensuring accurate, timely and reliable financial reporting for one of SPS North America’s two business lines. This role plays an important part in the monthly close, financial reporting, forecasting, financial controls and process improvement while partnering closely with Finance, Operations, Sales and other business leaders. The Financial Controller will provide financial insight and analysis to support business performance, strengthen financial processes and controls, and enable sound business decision-making. The role is well suited for a technically strong finance professional who enjoys working across functions, takes ownership of important financial processes, and is comfortable leading meetings, projects and process-improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on role with one direct report who will also have responsibilities related to financial processes and projects. Extensive people-management experience is not required. The successful candidate should, however, demonstrate the ability to influence others, lead initiatives, collaborate effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field required.
  • Approximately 5–7+ years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, financial controlling or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated progression through roles of increasing responsibility, ideally including experience progressing from financial analysis or accounting into controllership responsibilities.
  • Strong experience with financial reporting, month-end close, P&L analysis, forecasting and financial controls.
  • Experience analyzing financial performance, including revenue, costs, margins and profitability.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead financial processes, projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial management principles.
  • Ability to identify financial risks, analyze complex data and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand the operational factors that influence financial performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Approximately 10–12 years of progressive finance experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership, mentoring or team-lead experience preferred; extensive people-management experience is not required.
  • Experience in a multi-client, multi-location or business services environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience developing financial reports, dashboards and analytical tools preferred.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA designation is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to travel periodically and work across multiple time zones as required by business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the monthly P&L and financial forecasting process for the assigned business line, ensuring accurate, timely and actionable financial information.
  • Prepare, review and analyze financial reports, identifying trends, variances, risks and opportunities and communicating findings to Finance and business leadership.
  • Support the monthly and year-end close process, ensuring financial information is complete, accurate and delivered within established timelines.
  • Provide financial analysis related to customer contracts, revenue, costs, margins and profitability.
  • Analyze financial and operational variances and work with appropriate stakeholders to understand root causes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with Operations, Sales and other business stakeholders to support financial planning, forecasting and business decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting, dashboards and analytical tools that provide meaningful visibility into business performance.
  • Support the development and implementation of standardized financial processes, controls, reporting methodologies and tools.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve data quality, increase efficiency and reduce manual activities.
  • Partner with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen financial controls, reporting accuracy and operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and related finance processes.
  • Lead financial meetings, projects and process-improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Serve as a key Finance resource for financial analysis, reporting, business insights and special projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial, employee, customer and business information.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
