About The Position

HHM Talent is assisting a logistics client search for a Controller in Chattanooga, TN. This transportation and logistics company is seeking a strong Controller or CFO-level finance leader to oversee the accounting and finance function. This person will step into a highly visible role with the opportunity to grow into a CFO position as the company continues to scale. The ideal candidate will have direct transportation or logistics industry experience, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to work closely with ownership, banks, investors, and internal leadership.

Requirements

• Transportation or logistics industry experience is required
• Strong QuickBooks experience required
• Triumph software experience required
• Strong understanding of taxes, financial reporting, and month-end close
• Experience working directly with banks, credit lines, and financing relationships
• Experience preparing reports or presentations for investors, ownership, or executive leadership
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding, entrepreneurial environment

Nice To Haves

• Prior Controller, VP of Finance, or CFO-level experience preferred
• CPA preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting and finance function for a growing transportation/logistics company
• Manage month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal accounting processes
• Oversee accounting operations and manage a small accounting team
• Work directly with banks on credit lines, financing, and related reporting requirements
• Prepare and present quarterly financial reviews for investors
• Support tax planning, compliance, and coordination with outside tax advisors
• Manage cash flow reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Improve accounting processes, systems, reporting, and controls as the company continues to grow
• Partner with ownership and senior leadership on strategic financial decisions
