About The Position

The Gross Margin and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Financial Consultant sits at the center of portfolio, margin, and planning decisions, helping translate business performance into insights that improve profitability, strengthen forecast accuracy, and guide investment priorities. The Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Operating Unit (OU) Finance team plays a critical role in enabling strategic decision-making, operational alignment, and sustainable growth. In this role, you will lead gross margin analytics and IBP finance processes across the ENT OU. You will evaluate margin drivers such as cost, mix, pricing, manufacturing performance, and operational execution, assess forecast risks and opportunities, and develop executive-ready recommendations that support AOP delivery, lifecycle decisions, and long-term growth. This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and is passionate about connecting financial insights to business strategy. The ideal candidate will work from a Medtronic location in Minneapolis, MN; Lafayette, CO; or Jacksonville, FL and report to the Director of ENT OU Finance. This is an individual contributor role at the Consultant level with responsibility to coach and guide cross-functional partners and teammates. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of finance or accounting experience (or advanced degree with 8+ years)
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead gross margin analytics for the ENT OU, including performance tracking, scorecard development, standardized reporting, and insights that support Annual Operating Plan (AOP) delivery and long-term margin expansion goals.
  • Evaluate key margin drivers, including product mix, regional mix, pricing, standard cost, manufacturing variances, freight, tariffs, service and repair, and inventory-related costs, to identify risks, opportunities, and trade-offs.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, Commercial, R&D, and Strategy teams to develop and support execution of gross margin improvement initiatives.
  • Influence Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) strategy by connecting portfolio, lifecycle, launch, and margin dynamics into financial insights that guide prioritization, investment trade-offs, and long-term ENT OU profitability.
  • Prepare clear, executive-ready analysis and narratives for monthly reviews, workshops, IBP/FPR/MBR updates, and other operating mechanisms.
  • Lead product- and region-specific financial deep dives to assess performance drivers, explain variances, and recommend actions to improve profitability.
  • Lead the ENT OU IBP finance process, including FPR ownership, MBR support, forecast governance, and alignment across demand, supply, and financial plans.
  • Shape revenue, volume, pricing, cost, product lifecycle, and tender dynamics into clear forecast insights, risks and opportunities, and recommended actions to close gaps to AOP and rolling forecast targets.
  • Partner with IBP OU Leads, Supply Chain, Marketing, Commercial, and regional teams to integrate cross-functional inputs and strengthen forecast accuracy, accountability, and decision-making.
  • Translate new product launch performance into financial insights that inform cross-functional decisions through FPR, MBR, PMR, and ad hoc NPI discussions.
  • Deliver executive-ready revenue reporting, performance analytics, and scenario analysis across product families, regions, and operating mechanisms, including S&OE, FPR, and MBR.
  • Validate and reconcile forecast data across key planning tools, including Anaplan, OneStream, Enrich, and Power BI, to ensure consistency, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Advance IBP capability by engaging in Communities of Practice, sharing best practices, and supporting onboarding and training for new team members and regional IBP leads.
