Financial Application Administrator

Centier BankMerrillville, IN
Onsite

About The Position

The Financial Application Administrator for Core Banking is the business system administrator and primary guardian of the Bank's production configuration environment, responsible for the operational integrity, security, and governance of critical financial systems. As the technical gatekeeper for Change Control, the Administrator exercises independent judgment to validate, approve, or reject configuration requests. Changes must be authorized, approved, executed, and validated, not simply notified. The Administrator centralizes management of bank-control settings, financial application configurations, and product parameters, protecting the Bank from operational risk.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Core Banking concepts and product logic, including application capabilities and configurations (e.g., officer/branch code management, and transaction posting behaviors)
  • Deep understanding of banking financial applications, including parameter configurations and management
  • Proficiency with Change Control processes and tools, with experience working within approval workflows
  • Ability to assess the downstream impact of a configuration change on client experience and financial reporting, and make independent decisions about production safety
  • Ability to enforce governance and say 'no' to stakeholders when a change request does not meet risk or documentation standards
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues without immediate supervision
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in bank application administration, core banking systems, payment processing, or vendor application support
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) and Change Management workflows required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience administering banking financial applications relevant to Core Banking is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of banking regulations and data privacy standards (GLBA, PCI-DSS) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Owns the configuration of assigned financial applications, converting business requirements into system parameters, product definitions, and logic configurations relevant to Core Banking
  • Manages the full Change Control lifecycle: creates and vets requests, obtains proper approvals, verifies testing requirements, executes configuration changes, validates outcomes, and notifies key stakeholders
  • Enforces process governance and adherence to Bank policies, with the authority to reject configuration requests that lack sufficient documentation or approval
  • Manages non-production environments, configuring and validating new product features or system behaviors before promotion to production
  • Executes controlled deployments and scheduled configuration updates (e.g., officer lists, branch numbers, acct types, customer to account relationships codes) in production, the final control point before changes go live
  • Supports Technical Product Management to act as the primary application contact for operational teams, translating business requirements into configuration settings while ensuring downstream impacts are understood
  • Provides Tier 2 application support to triage incidents, performing root cause analysis on high-severity issues and escalating to vendors when necessary.
  • Maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs), configuration logs, parameter dictionaries, and role matrices in designated document repositories
  • Works with data teams to build and maintain dashboards and reports that monitor application metrics and the change-feedback loop
  • Participates, as needed, in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Quality Assurance (QA) for system changes, ensuring configurations achieve the desired business outcome before go-live
  • Participates in scheduled maintenance windows and provides on-call support for critical system updates or incident resolution
  • Conducts periodic reviews and configuration audits to verify compliance with banking regulations and internal audit requirements
  • Sets standards of excellence by adhering to the Essentials of Excellence and Centier Values
