The Partnerships & Blended Finance Department manages a pool of contributor funds of over $7 billion focused on accelerating IFC’s engagement in the most developmentally impactful areas: IDA and FCS countries, climate, SME, and agriculture. The Blended Finance – New Business and Portfolio (CBFNP) division sits in the Partnerships & Blended Finance Department. Within this division, there are investment officers that work on blended finance (BF) transactions supporting IFC’s regional and industry departments. These BF transactions may use different BF facilities including the IDA Private Sector Window (PSW), Concessional Capital Window (CCW) and the Frontier Opportunities Fund (FOF) among others, each managed by an investment and/or operations officer. The goal of this work is to enable IFC to have a much deeper impact and footprint in the most difficult countries and sectors through private sector investments. Position Overview The Financial Analyst will be a member of the CBFNP team based in Washington, DC, supporting the management and deployment of the IDA Private Sector Window (PSW) and IFC Concessional Capital Window (CCW). This role offers a unique opportunity to work on some of IFC’s highest impact BF operations across regions and industry groups, contributing to innovative financing solutions that mobilize private capital in IDA eligible and fragile markets. The role spans facility management, new investment processing, portfolio supervision, donor reporting, analytics, and fundraising support, and requires close coordination with BF investment and operations officers.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (business, finance, economics, international development)
  • Experience with international organizations, bilateral agencies and donors, including a good understanding of IFC, its mission and activities
  • Must have demonstrated ability to methodically and efficiently synthesize large volumes of information from diverse sources to compile data, prepare quantitative and qualitative management reports and present concepts, ideas, etc. for presentation to senior management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions; ability to perform medium-level complexity calculations and financial modeling
  • Proven writing and editing skills and strong command of English, with an ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, direct and lively manner. Ability to design and deliver effective presentations and create other materials such as infographics with focus on their graphic design
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to use standard technology packages, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI) and AI tools made available by the WBG
  • Productive and comfortable at multi-tasking, with the capacity to work under pressure; capable of initiative and working independently under limited supervision
  • Good team player who can build good relationships and support colleagues to complete projects and various reporting commitments within tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is a plus
  • Relevant experience in IFC investment operations is a plus
  • Relevant experience with agribusiness, MSMEs, climate, infrastructure, and blended finance contributors is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the IDA PSW Mid Term Review and other strategic PSW/CCW deliverables through qualitative and quantitative analysis of program performance, pipeline evolution, and development impact.
  • Monitor the IDA PSW and CCW investment pipeline in coordination with BF investment and operations officers, and support facility coordinators and facility managers in day to day facility operations.
  • Assist in the preparation of funds utilization reports for Senior Management and key stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery.
  • Support donor financial and operational reporting by supplying required information and ensuring the quality and accuracy of quarterly, semi annual, and ad hoc reports.
  • Maintain up to date records and internal database for PSW and CCW portfolios, including financial performance, disbursements, and results indicators.
  • Provide support for other key reports on PSW/CCW, including research, drafting, editing, factchecking, design and layout new sections under the guidance of facility coordinators and facility managers.
  • Work with BF investment officers (BF IOs) to identify and assess potential BF projects across Facilities and regions.
  • Support BF IOs’ engagements with industry teams to develop innovative BF solutions and structures.
  • Support BF IOs in execution of BF projects, including performing analysis and drafting BFC notes under BF IOs guidance and supervision.
  • Support new BF fundraising initiatives by analyzing IFC’s pipeline, thematic priorities, and alignment with donor objectives.
  • Conduct research on sector specific activities of other MDBs and DFIs, recipient country priorities, and donor country strategies to inform fundraising efforts.
  • Contribute to dialogue with donors and contributors, supporting efforts to articulate the value of private sector participation, IFC’s BF approach, governance framework, and track record.
  • Assist in drafting new funding proposals, including writing and editing technical sections and supplying data from IFC and across the World Bank Group.
  • Provide analytical inputs to negotiations with contributors and stay current with IFC strategies to inform ongoing and future funding discussions.
  • Work closely with investment officers across different IFC industry groups and regions to expand the IDA PSW/CCW and other facilities’ pipeline.
  • Support regular communication and engagement with other WBG institutions (e.g. IDA, MIGA) for IDA PSW facility management.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, results oriented team environment that values analytical rigor, clarity of communication, and development impact.
