About The Position

Join our Investment Accounting (IA) team in an entry-level Financial Analyst role, partnering closely with Senior Financial Analysts on a variety of meaningful and high-impact projects. This role involves taking ownership of preparing a daily reconciliation packet to support accurate and timely monthly accounting records. You will work with senior staff to identify breaks, communicate with vendors, and escalate items to management as needed to resolve discrepancies in the accounting records. The position requires examining and analyzing financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established reporting and procedural standards, and applying strong critical-thinking skills to manage time effectively, prioritize multiple tasks, solve problems, and draw clear, well-supported conclusions.

Requirements

  • 30 months of experience or training in accounting and/or finance, including an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • OR completion of an undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field, plus 6 months of experience or training in accounting and/or finance, including an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • OR 12 months of experience as a Financial Associate, 66561.
  • OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment.
  • Knowledge of BWC policies & procedures.
  • Knowledge of cost & financial accounting.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and/or federal laws, rules, procedures & standards governing fiscal accounting & budgetary operations.
  • Knowledge of BWC Financial Reporting policies & procedures.
  • Knowledge of investment accounting and/or finance (e.g., Principles of Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Governmental Accounting).
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for investment portfolios, asset classes & individual manager portfolios.
  • Knowledge of trade communications.
  • Knowledge of accounting information systems.
  • Knowledge of investment information available from the master record keeper (BNY Mellon) & custodial bank.
  • Knowledge of performance calculations in compliance with Global Investment Performance Standards.
  • Skill in the use of a calculator.
  • Skill in the use of a personal computer & peripheral equipment (e.g., printer, keyboard).
  • Skill in investment accounting (e.g., preparing investment accounting journal entries, reconciliation of investment portfolios & calculations &/or investment performance calculations).
  • Skill in the use of MS Office Software (e.g., Word, Access, Outlook).
  • Skill in the use of MS Excel.
  • Skill in communicating, both verbally & in writing to various levels within the organization.
  • Ability to read, interpret & analyze technical financial materials.
  • Ability to recommend any accounting & reporting changes as needed & as required.
  • Ability to deal with complex & technical fiscal variables.
  • Ability to gather, collate, classify information about data, people, things.
  • Ability to coordinate reconciliation between financial parties & maintain professional verbal & written communications with bank, master record keeper, & outside investment managers.
  • Ability to prepare complex financial accounting reports.
  • Ability to prepare &/or edit technical fiscal material.
  • Ability to handle complex financial accounting issues in verbal & written form.
  • Ability to prepare meaningful, accurate & concise reports to include accurate recommendations.
  • Ability to use proper research methods to gather data.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 months of required accounting/fiscal experience.
