About The Position

This position is a detail-oriented professional role focused on managing and reconciling complex financial accounts and records. The responsibilities include reviewing invoices and obligations for approval, preparing and analyzing statements and reports for federal and state financial reporting, and determining cash needs for grants and administrative requests. The role also involves compiling fiscal and statistical data for management, posting journal entries for grant receipts and expenditures, and assisting staff with reconciliation issues. This position is suitable for individuals with strong analytical skills and a passion for accuracy in financial operations.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college with courses in business administration and accounting.
  • Requires two years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) year or more of practical experience working with the principles of governmental accounting, auditing, and statistics.
  • 2 years of experience reconciling and analyzing financial reports for errors.
  • 2 years of experience providing accounting assistance to subordinate staff.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel demonstrating proficiency writing and utilizing advanced functions or formulas.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, examines, and reconciles complex account books, records, and documents.
  • Reviews complex invoices and obligations for approval to the accounting level in the accounting system and ensures that an audit trail is being maintained.
  • Compiles and prepares information to review complex statements reports and other documentation for required monthly and annual Federal State financial reports.
  • Determines Cash needs based upon sub-grantee request and administrative need and requests cash from the appropriated Federal State or private grantor agency.
  • Compiles fiscal and statistical data for use by upper management.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries into complex ledger for grants receipts, cash requests, expenditures, etc.
  • Aids other staff persons with any questions or problems concerning various reconciliations of obligations, appropriations, contracts, detail objects receipts, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
