About The Position

SubCom, LLC is seeking an entry-level Financial Analyst to support the Marine Operations team in Baltimore, MD. The Financial Analyst will provide financial analysis and decision support by assisting with budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, and variance analysis. The role will help monitor fleet operating costs, including port expenses, spares/M&R, and consumables, while contributing to process improvements and maintaining strong financial controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is a must.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and the ability to perform accounting related functions as required (journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis).
  • Strong analytical and computer skills including advanced Excel skills and the proven ability to learn new accounting software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to interact with individuals both internally and externally.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple deadlines with ease.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as work in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Detail, action, and goal-oriented, with the ability to follow through and drive projects to timely completion.
  • Candidates for positions with SubCom must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility verification will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of finance or accounting experience within a medium-to-large enterprise is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Marine Operations business leaders to support monthly forecasting and financial planning activities.
  • Analyze monthly financial results, identify key variances to budget and forecast, and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and other long-range financial plans.
  • Support month-end close activities by validating financial data and preparing variance analyses.
  • Monitor operating expenses, identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities, and recommend actions to improve business performance.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, reports, and dashboards to support decision-making and improve reporting efficiency.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Accounting and Operations, to support business initiatives, capital projects, and ad hoc financial analyses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes through automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and communicate financial analyses and recommendations to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Perform other FP&A and financial analysis duties as assigned.
