About The Position

Baldwin Supply distributes mechanical power transmission products, conveyor belts, and electrical control and automation products across the Upper Midwest. It serves a variety of industries, such as agriculture, food packaging, and mining, and provides services like belt fabrication and motor repair. The Financial Analyst supports the financial performance of the business by providing analysis, reporting, and insights related to profitability, inventory, pricing, and operating efficiency. This role works closely with operations, sales, and supply chain to help drive informed decisions in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience, preferably in distribution, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
  • Power BI or similar experience
  • Solid understanding of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with non-finance teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with inventory-intensive businesses strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods
  • Analyze gross margin performance by product line, customer, vendor, and branch/location
  • Support monthly close process through accruals, analytical reviews, and management reporting
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis
  • Analyze pricing, discounting, and customer profitability
  • Support pricing strategy by evaluating margin impact, cost changes, and competitive dynamics
  • Assist sales leadership with customer and contract profitability analysis
  • Track and report on sales performance, rebates, commissions, and incentive programs
  • Analyze inventory turns, excess and obsolete inventory, and slow-moving items
  • Partner with supply chain and operations to improve inventory efficiency and cash flow
  • Monitor purchasing trends and vendor cost changes
  • Support inventory reserve calculations and cycle count analysis
  • Provide financial insights for capital investments, warehouse initiatives, and process improvements
  • Support branch or location-level P&L analysis
  • Assist with ad hoc analysis related to acquisitions, integrations, or system implementations
  • Help improve reporting tools, dashboards, and financial processes
  • Work with ERP system (Epicor Prophet 21)
  • Maintain and enhance Excel-based models and reports; leverage BI tools where available
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across financial and operational reports
