About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Resources and Operations in the College of Humanities and the Arts (COHA) and working closely with the Director of the School of Music, the Financial Analyst provides advanced financial and accounting support. The incumbent manages multiple accounts, prepares financial reports, and supports budget development and analysis for various programs, including regular, summer, and special sessions.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with constituents in a professional and respectful manner
  • General knowledge of standard office technology and systems, and software applications such as: word processing, spreadsheet, FileMaker database management
  • General knowledge of university methods, procedures, and practices; English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling. Ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget policies and procedures, and budgetary monitoring practices
  • Ability to analyze budgetary data, conduct preliminary analyses, and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques; ability to develop and design databases and create related reports
  • Ability to monitor computerized accounting records, and to research and correct computer data errors
  • Ability to handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects
  • Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the work group and serve as a liaison for the department
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist
  • Ability to analyze operational procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with employees and external agencies
  • Strong oral communication skills. Must possess excellent customer service and public relations skills
  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of relevant experience handling large complex budgets
  • Experience with budget planning, analysis, reconciliation, and projects
  • Experience working in a fast-paced arts performance environment with competing priorities
  • Experience as a project manager or lead

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor day-to-day fiscal operations and budgets
  • Prepare financial reports, projections, and reconciliations
  • Track expenditures across multiple funding sources
  • Support grant applications and budget development
  • Serve as liaison with campus partners, foundations, and stakeholders
  • Oversee purchasing, travel, and financial transactions
  • Maintain financial databases and reporting tools
  • Coordinate with IT and Facilities on construction and remodeling projects
  • Support operational needs for events and School activities
  • Assist with project tracking, schedules, and compliance
